Cytogenetics
Cytogenetics is the study of an individual's chromosomes (fetus, baby, child or adult) to detect any structural or
numerical chromosome abnormalities.
Two different genetic technologies are used for testing: Conventional cytogenetics (karyotype) is used to determine the structure and number of chromosomes while molecular cytogenetics (FISH) is mainly used to quantify certain chromosomes. |
